Cub Scout Pack 772

Boy Scouts of America

Chartered by The Woodlands Methodist Church

Pack 772 was founded in October 1988 and is part of the Sam Houston Area Council and George Strake District. Our Pack is an active family-oriented Cub Scout Pack. Parents or a Caring Adult’s participation in their child’s scouting activities is essential to their success. Scouts can join Cub Scouts at any age and is open to scouts between the ages of 5 to 11 in grades K through 5th. Pack 772 has earned the BSA Centennial Quality Unit award numerous times and has been recognized by the Sam Houston Area Council with the Excellence in Training Award.

In Cub Scouting, scouts and their families have fun and adventure in a program that builds character and instills values. Cub Scouting embraces the values of citizenship, compassion, cooperation, courage, faith, health and fitness, honesty, perseverance, positive attitude, resourcefulness, respect, and responsibility. These values come to scouts in all parts of the Cub Scout program—all while they're having a great time with their friends and families. Scouts of the same age/grade level meet in smaller groups called Dens.  Dens generally meet 1-2 times per month in addition to the Pack meeting mentioned above. The day and time varies depending on what the Den Leader and the families in the Den decide.

Our Pack activities include:

  • A fall family campout
  • Raingutter boat regatta in October
  • Pinewood derby race car event in March-April
  • Spring family campout
  • At least one overnight “sleepover” per year at various locations such as the Houston Zoo, Space Center Houston, Moody Gardens, or the U.S.S. Lexington.
  • During the summer, we participate in a week-long Day Camp, 2-night Webelos Resident Camp, and have a pack pool party.
  • In October of each year, we hold our one annual fundraiser by taking orders and delivering Christmas wreaths, centerpieces, and other seasonal greenery.

Me-toos: (younger or older siblings of scouts) are encouraged to participate in campouts, the Raingutter Regatta, and Pinewood Derby.  They may attend Pack and Den meetings.

Faith: BSA believes that no member can grow into the best kind of citizen without recognizing an obligation to God, and encourages both youth and adult leaders to be faithful in their religious duties.  With the church as our sponsoring organization, we are active in performing our “Duty to God.”  We help the church with a yearly service project called Christmas Miracles.  We also conduct God & Me (for Bears) and God & Family (for first-year Webelos) classes as part of the God & Country program, and participate in Scout Sunday.  The Pack holds Christian-based scout services on the Sundays we are camping.

Awards: All scouts can earn advancement awards during the scout year.  Advancement is the process by which a scout progresses from badge to badge, learning new skills as he goes. As a scout advances through the ranks, requirements are progressively more challenging, matching the increased skills and abilities as the scout grows older.  Many of our Webelos II scouts (5th grade scouts) earn the Arrow of Light award, the highest award in Cub Scouting, before bridging over to Boy Scouts.

Adult Volunteers: We strongly encourage parents to experience scouting with their scouts.  Adults can help as den leaders, assistant den leaders, or pack committee members.  All registered adult volunteers must complete BSA Youth Protection Training and can also take advantage of BSA leadership and supplemental training.  Training is available through Boy Scouts of America and many of our Leaders have been nominated and / or recognized by our District and Council with Awards for training, service, and merit.  On the 1st Sunday of each month, we hold a leadership committee planning meeting.  All adults are invited to attend.

Leadership:  Our Cubmaster is Tim Griepp.  To find out more about our pack, visit our website at and click on “Join Now” option on the menu to the left. We will respond with additional information on our pack and answer questions you may have about our unit.
